The world’s most famous street artist’s contribution to make Sutton a more colourful place has been ruined by louts.

Despite a rousing show of support from Sutton residents, Banksy’s critique on IKEA in the Beddington Farm Road industrial estate on the border with Croydon has been ‘tagged’ over by vandals.

The satirical image features a punk standing next to a cardboard box marked IEAK apparently reading instructions on how to put together a graffiti slogan.

Envious vandals have sprayed red and white tags all over the piece of art and the question now is, what will be its fate?

One of the haphazard ‘tags’ reads, Choke, Real Graffiti another reads, NO BANKSY while others are just poorly sprayed names.

Sutton Council asked the public whether or not they considered Banksy’s latest piece art or vandalism before they took a decision to remove it or keep it.

Do you know who the tags belong to? Let us know at suttonguardian.co.uk or call the newsdesk on 020 8330 9554

ok choke is not a toy he has bee leavin his mark n indianapolis and recently got arresten and had thousands in damage..he has goten alot better and he is deff not a toy

  4. heat 83 should go down with choke for not knowing what a true street artist is all about.choke obviously does not respect the work of others or the rest of the toys that dont have one hair of talent to even know how to use a can the proper way.just because you can write your name doesnt mean you can out do or dis a master of street art and art in general. so to all who dare to dis an artist in the form they dissed banksy they deserve to be called toys. as for banksy i respect him for his rep as an artist or street artist hes built for himself and should be considered a full fleged artist oh and one more thing i think banksy should declare war on these toys

  6. This whole wall ended up being removed by Banksy “fans”, and they are trying to restore it – good luck with that one, it was totalled – just after the public voted in favour of keeping it too.
