RESER3009 THE FUCKEN FREIGHT KING!!!

reser3009 GRAFFITI WRITER

reser3009 GRAFFITI WRITER

PUREGRAFFITI. What do you write and how did you choose this name?
RESER3009. I write Reser3009 and I rep ETC crew. The name is basicly just letters that I like to work with…. The number represents something personal, I dont really care to share what…
PUREGRAFFITI. Where are you from and how old where you when you first started writing?

RESER3009. I live in Vancouver, Canada … I was about 12-13 years old when I started getting interested in graffiti and made my first attempts at it.
PUREGRAFFITI. What’s your background did you go to Art school or are you a Self learner?
RESER3009. Nah, I never went to art school.. I was never one of those kids. Graffiti has always just been graffiti to me. I appreciate the more artsy side of it, but its not for me…

PUREGRAFFITI. Have you painted abandoned places? Freights? Any weird locations?
RESER3009. Yes, I’ve painted abandoned buildings.. They’re great spots to get if you are looking for the spot to run.. if no one owns it, no one is going to clean it. As far as the freights go.. Thats my thing. If i had to label myself I would say I’m a freight writer.. Its what I love. You never know what you are gonna see from one time to the next… It keeps the experiance fresh.. something new everytime you hit the yard..
PUREGRAFFITI. What would you call your style?
RESER3009. I don’t know exactly.. I paint a lot of straight letters on the freights… Save the the wildstyles and stuff more for the walls.. I don’t know what to label that.. haha.

PUREGRAFFITI. What is your favorite surface to paint on?
RESER3009. Warm steel.. The paint drys almost instantly..  Nothing beats a warm summer night in a freight yard.. Old brick buildings are always nice to paint as well.. good texture..
PUREGRAFFITI. You paint the streets correct? Have you ever been arrested?
RESER3009. Yeah.. I’ve definately done my share of city bombing over the years, to say the least.. I don’t do it so much anymore though.. The older you get the less time you have I suppose… as for run-ins with the law, I’ve had my share… Nothing serious though.. If you do things correct, you won’t have problems..

PUREGRAFFITI. If you could collaborate with any artist in the world, who would it be ?
RESER3009. Man, I dunno.. I’m not really the type to think about things like that.. I’m content painting with those who surround me as it is..
PUREGRAFFITI. Have you done any collaborations with artists? if so which ones?
RESER3009. I’ve done a lot of collaborations in my travels around the world… Theres really to many artists to name… One of my favourite trips worth mentioning would probably be in Ireland… The Bridge jam.. I got to meet and paint with a lot of talented writers from all over Europe.. The shit was hot!
PUREGRAFFITI. Do you try to keep your identity anonymous?
RESER3009. I like to try.. Going out drinking with other writers really dosen’t help that situation though… haha. If you’ve been writing long enough, eventually people are going to start figuring out who you are through mutual friends or simply just seeing you painting walls… I don’t really stress about it.
PUREGRAFFITI. What are your favorite brands of paint and caps to work with?

reser3009

reser3009

RESER3009. I pretty much only use Rustoleum… Painters Touch mostly.. American Accents was badass, but they stopped making it.. Valspar is pretty good. Some of the Europaints are pretty good as well, I dont really fuck with them though.. I’m not interested in buying cans from a HipHop store.. especially at the outrageous prices these guys sell them at!! As for caps… I pretty much strictly use RUSTOFATS… I love ‘em… can’t beat ‘em!
PUREGRAFFITI. How long does it take you to produce a piece?

RESER3009. That really depends.. I’ll come off on a nice freight in about an hour… It really has to do with what you and the guys you are with decide you wanna rock on the car.. As for walls I’ll usually spend 2-3 hours… Just lamp out and have some beers.. Play around with the shit.. Its more fun that way..
PUREGRAFFITI. What are your plans or goals as an artist for the years to come?

RESER3009. I just want to paint as many freights as I can. Keep the numbers going up!
PUREGRAFFITI. What advice would you give to young inexperienced graffiti writers?
RESER3009. Pretty simple really.. HISTORY IS IMPORTANT. GRAFFITI IS ABOUT RESPECT. Pay attention to what those before you did.. specificly those in YOUR city and YOUR area.. Don’t be burning out spots, fucking leaving paint cans laying around everywhere.. Take a little bit of pride in your work and the places that you paint.. Treat that shit like gold, because if you don’t one day it isn’t even going to be there.. or be accessable to you..

PUREGRAFFITI. Anything else you would like to say to the world?
RESER3009. Nah.. I dont have much else to say.. Keep doing what your doing!
